Folk Radio UK (MP3 128kbps)

FRUK is an independent radio station based just outside of Bristol. We run the station on a small cottage industry scale from our family home. The station was launched in 2004 by its founder Alex Gallacher, who runs the station with the help of his wife Amanda.

The idea for the station was borne out of memories of listening to John Peel alongside a desire to offer something unique to listeners. All the music for the station is hand-picked.

The station website also features news, reviews, interviews, mixes, live sessions and more. It attracts over 30,000 visitors every month. Reviews are written by Alex and a team of equally passionate volunteers.

It has also caught the attention of main stream press such as the Guardian.

FRUK plays a wide range of music ranging from Alt-folk, Indie and Experimental. The music is continually changing as they seek out new music so, despite the ‘folk’ focus you can expect the unexpected!
